Monsters & Representations

 Nurses
Appear in: Silent Hill 2, 3, 4: The Room, Origins, The Arcade, The Escape, Book of Memories, Homecoming, Downpour, Silent Hill Film, Revelation
Nurses often are found in hospitals or sanitariums/asylums. They represent the main characters sexual frustrations that may occur. For example in Silent Hill: Homecoming, Alex (the main character) was off in war for a few years and thus lacked any sexual urges that needed to be fulfilled. This results in a lower libido. The nurses, from the face down, could be considered a sexual being. They have high heels, toned legs and thighs, short skirts, and large breasts. What else could a guy ask for?

Appear in: Origins, Book of Memories, Silent Hill Revelation
These monsters are truly grotesque. They represent a human with the inability of their arms, thus the straightjacket. They spew acid as a form of attack. In Silent Hill: Origins, these monsters represent the main character's, Travis, mother's stay at the Cedar Grove Sanitarium and Travis' negative feelings towards madmen. They also represent his sexual deprivation.

Red Pyramid Pyramid Head/ Red Pyramid
Appear in: Film, Revelation, Origins, Homecoming, Arcade, Downpour, Book of Memories, 2
This monstrosity is primarily the symbol of Silent Hill. Wielding a giant sword and not knowing what his face looks like adds to the intensity and scare factor of Silent Hill. In some cases, he represents the darker side of the character. Also representing the deaths of important people in the characters life (while taking lives in some cases). In Silent Hill 2, he can be seen raping two mannequin monsters, also showing a sign of sexual frustration. All in all, this baddy is pretty much the evil being of the main character.

Appears in: Silent Hill 2
This is what was being sexually tortured by Pyramid Head. These figures, who only have a torso and limbs, who rub their legs together like an insect's mandibles as an attack. They represent James' (SH 2 main character) natural urges and the frustration of his estranged/dead wife. They are commonly found lurking around dark hallways of the Lakeview Hotel
